Bio - Associate Liason
Debra Oldroyd

Debra Oldroyd serves the Dance/ Drill Team Directors of America as Associate Liaison. She is also a member of TDEA, NDEO, NTCA and has participated in the National Dance Congress, with recent work as a clinic director, workshop presenter, adjudicator, and master class teacher.
Ms. Oldroyd worked as Director of the Azle High School Emerald Dazzlers for 2 years and Artistic Director for 6 years. Also working as a choreographer for the past 25 years she has created for several performing groups, teams and studios primarily in the Dallas/ Fort Worth area. Many of her works have received awards for choreography at local and national levels. Ms. Oldroyd is currently director of the A.H.S. Colorguard, and founded the A.H.S. Winterguard program which is in its 5th year. Both have received many awards.
At Brigham Young University Ms. Oldroyd participated in an extended program that provided learning experiences from many important choreographers of our time including Martha Graham, Murray Louis and Alwin Nickaolais. She continued performing, and later worked as Choreographer in Residence at the Alhambra Theatre. Career highlights include an A.P.A. award for her contemporary choreography of Oklahoma. She has been a studio owner, associate artistic director, and company director. In 1996, she traveled to Quebec, Canada and directed the St. Adele Dancers Company.
As a native of Salt Lake City, Utah she feels fortunate that her early development as a dancer was influenced by several icons of the dance world including the legendary William Christensen, Virginia Tanner, Shirley Ririe and Joan Woodbury. She was awarded a Governors Scholarship for the Arts and studied Martha Graham technique with Toni Pickall. She later performed professionally. Her favorite dance roles and performances include: Shirin in Legend of Love, the Four Seasons, Count Down, and Appalachian Spring. Her favorite starring role is as a wife, and the mother of three wonderful sons.
