See you next year at the National Convention, April 9-11, 2008
During the business meeting at the 29th annual convention a motion was made that next year’s 30th anniversary annual convention "Legends Ball" be the last "annual" convention for DTDA. The motion was based on discussion and input from DTDA membership. A consensus was reached that DTDA has fulfilled its original mandate and achieved its charter goals. When first created DTDA desired to inspire dance and drill team educators to seek professional enrichment through organizations and encourage states to do the same. Having achieved this mission, DTDA should now move forward and become a true national organization functioning as an umbrella to support and enhance the state and regional dance and drill team organizations that have developed as a result of DTDA.
After approval of this motion, a second motion was made to appoint a committee to review the constitution and bylaws of the current organization presenting changes to restructure DTDA based on new goals and therefore create a new mandate that will move us into the future and help DTDA become a partner with organizations that will continue to provide professional development for dancers and dance educators throughout the nation. This proposal was also approved.
The executive board would like emphasize that DTDA will continue as the founders intended to be a resource and support foundation for dance drill team education nationwide. We will work with dance institutions, educational institutions and other entities that will further the development of dance and dance education to serve our membership to the fullest.
